Agresiva, oscura e intimidatoria, la Jim Root Jazzmaster es la versión más minimalista del modelo Jazzmaster en su medio siglo de historia. Por deseo expreso del reconocido guitarrista de Slipknot y Stone Sour, la Jim Root Jazzmaster ya no emplea circuitos con doble control de tono. Atrás quedan también los marcadores de posición de los trastes y el enorme puente cromado, además de la mayoría de características típicas de la Jazzmaster, que fueron reemplazadas solamente por unas pastillas EMG® de doble bobinado con cubiertas en níquel pulido, el puente fijo y poco más.
